“Additive Inspirations” – Session #4

25 September 2020

After having conducted three sessions of our format Additive Inspirations so far, we presently feel to focus once more onto our campaign 3D Printing fights Corona which we initiated this spring. The second wave is already underway, and the number of new infections in Europe is rising again, in some countries very rapidly.

The September issue will focus again on COVID-19, the latest developments and the ways in which 3D printing can assist in the pandemic.

Applications where 3D printing could help (face shields, masks, ventilators)
• Face shields: summary of most suitable devices (MGA summary)
• mouth-nose-masks: analysis of different 3D printed masks (MSc Sascha Hartig, University of German Armed Forces)
• ventilators
• snorkeling masks for ventilator use (Alessandro Romaioli, Technical Officer @ ISINNOVA)

Quo vadis, vaccine development?
• Who is the fastest and first?
• How safe is the vaccine? (MGA Medical, Dr. Cora Lüders-Theuerkauf)

Additive Manufacturing is in search of new impulses for its market.
To sweeten the wait time to our MGA Annual Meeting 2020 (6 – 7 October 2020, Berlin) and to use it effectively, we have started Additive Inspirations end of June, a new series of virtual keynotes once a month. In exciting presentations, we will highlight recent practical examples and give impulses as to the segments in which Additive Manufacturing can apply and expand its potential.
